MSF’s 10 Most Underreported Humanitarian Stories of 2007

Human Security Students: Relying on US major media networks to stay abreast of international news is like relying on a starving dog to guard the dinner steak. So, MSF’s statement that this list of major international humanitarian crisis “accounted for just 18 minutes of coverage on the three major U.S. television networks’ nightly newscasts from January through November 2007” should come as no great surprise.  Still, its list is an excellent place for human security students to begin to immerse themselves in the struggles faced by these vulnerable communities and to ponder why our traditional national security and development institutions have failed to adequately respond to these crises. Take some time to read through these stories before we start our course.
